Introduction

Hello everyone,

This is an introduction to my fashion blog. I decided to create a fashion blog because 1) fashion is how I express my individuality (cliche but true) and 2) because people are always complementing me on my fashion sense. Through this blog I will share my various opinions on all things fashion (i.e. clothes, make-up, shoes, hair, accessories, etc.) through text, picture, and video.

Why do I find my style to be unconventional?

Everything that is cool or new or crazy eventually becomes commercial. My style is not commercialized. I don't look to magazines or television to define my style; I also don't buy outfits. I buy pieces that I mix and match, whether it be prints colors or cuts. I like what I like and that is all that matters. I also don't adhere to social guidelines in terms of attire. There is no such thing as being overdressed and I don't own a pair of sweat-pants. I am not high maintenance, I just refuse to wear articles of clothing that don't look good on me, whether it is the new trend or not.

What does unconventional mean in terms of fashion?

Some people might think crazy or wild, but to me it means that I am never in season. I naturally gravitate towards pieces that others don't see as workable. I just love clothes and having a complete look. Most of the time I shop from clearance racks and thrift stores. I OWN hand-me-downs. I work with what I got and I always work it with confidence. Confidence is the best fashion accessory anyone can possess. I am heelless boots a year and a half before anyone even thought they would be popular. I like the idea of truly being unconventional when unconventionally conventional is in.

What does unconventional style mean to you?

  1. To me, unconventional style means to have no style. When people see you, they don't recognize any style, they just see you. I think clothes are a way to cover the shell that holds all the important stuff. Sometimes style can be a barrier, because people think that if you dress like them, then they know you, so they don't have to make the effort to get to know you. Personally, I don't have a “style”, I don't know when clothes or shoes come in and go out. I put on whatever is clean, and it doesn't matter if it matches, but that's just me. If people think, “she's scatter-brained” they'd know something true about me. Unconventional style is buying what you like, rather than what the world wants you to like.

  2. I believe that everyone has their own personal style. What is interesting about people who think that they have "no style" is that they associate style with being "fashionable". Some people love to wear comfortable clothes, to some degree this IS a style.
