A New Way to Wear Gold

When I wear colored pants I like that color to be reflected in the rest of my outfit. Colored pants are fun because they go well with prints and uniquely styled items. I chose to wear a black military/ marching band uniform style vest with gold trim and buttons. This vest was a particularly good fit with the pants because the two golds are different hues and textures. Being too "matchy" takes away from the creativity of the outfit. Matching perfectly makes outfits more utilitarian and less expressive.

Accessories: I chose to go with a simple pearl earring set. When your outfit is flashy a minimalistic approach should be taken when it comes to accessories. Contrary to popular belief, you can have too much gold. Over accessorizing leaves your outfit looking clunky and immature.

How do you like to wear gold?

  1. I agree with the too "matchy" comment. A lot of people use Barbie-logic to pick out clothes; that orange-cerulean-peach lipstick has to have perfect matching orange-cerulean-peach shoes, when it doesn't. Sometimes the novelty in outfits is the haphazard way that they match. A person might have red eyeliner, and red socks, it wouldn't match immediately until they sit down, and their pants ride up. You'd be confused, and then hopefully pleasantly surprised. I like to wear gold necklaces, I don't have a great deal of experience with gold. I like when other people have gold glitter in their hair.

  2. I used to be crazy about matching, but then I started to experiment with prints and patterns. Coordinating different prints and patterns is so much more creative to me, as opposed to finding pieces that match 100%.
